Mikhail Khodorkovsky was photographed in January of 1994 In Moscow, Russia. Khodorkovsky was then the President of the Russian Bank Menatep, one of the first commercial banks created in Russia after the end of the Soviet Union. With business partners Khodorkovsky then created a holding company called Group Menatep which acquired controlling interest in the Yukos Oil Company, Yukos would become Russia’s top Oil producer with Khodorkovsky as Chairman. With an estimated $15 billion in personal wealth, Fortune magazine named Khodorkovky “Russia’s richest man”. In 2003 he was arrested by Russian Federal Security Service agents and charged with tax fraud.
