Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs (1955-2011) on stage to announce the special U2 20GB iPod model at the California Theater in San Jose, CA. Jobs was forced out of the company he helped create in 1985 only to be brought back as the interim Chief Executive Officer in 1996. Jobs returned to Apple as the company was near bankruptcy. In 2003 Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was medical leave for most of 2011. Jobs died on October 5th 2011 and the company he helped create, Apple, became the largest technology firm in the world with its stock market value reaching $500 billion in March 2012.
