Heavy equipment contaminated by radiation from the 1986 accident in reactor 4 at the Chernobyl nuclear Power Station in the Soviet Ukraine was abandoned near the original concrete sarcophagus built around Block 4. The explosion at Chernobyl has been called the worst "man-made" disaster in human history.
